In CASE You Missed It (December/January 2021-2022)
Just because conference season is over and the holidays are coming up soon doesn’t mean we’re slowing down! Take a look at a few of our events and announcements you may have missed.
Nature Journaling Webinar with John Muir Laws
On Wednesday, November 17, we held an awesome webinar hosted by esteemed nature journalist John Muir (Jack) Laws. Jack showed everyone tips and tricks on how to make nature journaling an engaging and insightful learning experience for students.
On Tuesday, November 30, CASE participated in GivingTuesday for the first time. GivingTuesday is a day dedicated to giving back and doing good in the community. We are so thankful for everyone who took the time to make a donation to CASE! If you still want to make a gift this holiday season (or any time), you can donate through clicking on this form. All donations are tax deductible
In November, we featured a very special Member Spotlight, Kelly Garcia, for Veterans Day. Kelly served in the US Navy in a STEM related position and is now a science teacher. December’s Member Spotlight is Dr. Art Sussman, an educator with a passion for environmental literacy. He’s also a regular contributor to CCS! Thank you Kelly and Dr. Sussman for taking the time to share your wisdom and experiences with us!
CASE recently attended the NSTA Area Conference in Los Angeles (December 9-11). In addition to connecting with attendees in the exhibit lounge, CASE President Peter A’Hearn hosted a networking and social hour at HighDef Brewery. On Saturday, December 11, CASE Primary Director Claudio Vargas hosted a workshop with Diana Velez and Peter A’Hearn on, Language proficiency and rigorous science instruction: What’s the connection? We are grateful for our awesome board/committee volunteers who attended and represented CASE!
CASE is hosting an in-person regional event for those in Northern California on Saturday, January 22 from 8:45 am - 4:00 pm at San Joaquin COE - FabLab.
