Too Much Fun at the CASE Conference!

The California Science Education Conference (AKA the CASE Conference) is coming soon! While you’re no doubt excited about the amazing workshops, short courses, and mind-blowing speakers that will energize your teaching, don’t forget to also have some fun with your fellow science educators.
This year CASE is offering three don’t-miss-events to push your conference experience to the next level.
First up, on Friday evening is the Poolside Water Engineering Challenge.
This has become a tradition when CASE is in Palm Springs. Sign up with your colleagues for a chance to compete against other teams by building a cardboard boat designed to make it across the pool without foundering. There will also be an opportunity to design and drive an underwater ROV. Plus a DJ, dancing, food, drinks, and poolside chill.
Teams test their engineering skills and creativity at the Poolside Water Challenge, science, teamwork, and a splash of fun!

Tahquitz Canyon Hike
On Saturday morning, join us for the Tahquitz Canyon Hike, where we will hike up the spectacular Tahquitz (TAH-kwish) Canyon in Palm Springs.
We’ll see the Witch of the Canyon, learn about the terrifying legend of Tahquitz, study the geology and biology of the area, and go for a swim in the falls to cool off. Hiking in a swimsuit is highly recommended!
If we’re lucky, we’ll even encounter a few Bighorn sheep which are known to frequent the area. The trip will also highlight best practices for supporting outdoor learning.
STEAM and Paint with John Muir Laws
Saturday night is the STEAM and Paint with legendary nature artist and teacher John Muir Laws! (He goes by Jack.) Grab a glass of wine and settle in for a step-by-step lesson in painting with watercolor. All materials will be provided and no painting experience is needed. Jack Laws is really an amazing teacher of nature and art, so don’t miss this!
Make sure to sign up for the social activities and don’t suffer from unnecessary BTYWT (Bummed That You Weren’t There)!
