It’s hard to believe it’s already August! A new school year will soon be upon us (and for some, it may even be here already). Where did the summer go? If you’ve been busy this summer, we’ll fill you in on what you may have missed.


Early Bird
Did you hear that our Early Bird conference registration rate was extended to Tuesday, August 31? If you didn’t register before, you’re definitely going to want to now with this extension! This is the last chance for both members and nonmembers to save $40 with their registration. You can register online or by using our registration form.

Opening Keynote Speaker Announced
Recently, we announced our opening Keynote Speaker for the California Science Education Experience, Diana Trujillo. Diana is an aerospace engineer who’s best known for her work for NASA. To learn more about Diana, visit our conference website.


Upcoming Webinar
Recently, we announced our upcoming webinar, Building on Student and Community Assets to Achieve Equity in STEM Education, which will take place Wednesday, August 25, from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Hosted by STEMscopes, this webinar will feature presenters Leena Bakshi, EdD, Kristin Majda, MS and Nancy Nasr, EdD. It will also be the first in a year-long series that will explore strategies to overcome inequities in STEM through an asset-centered approach to working with diverse student populations.This webinar is FREE for members and nonmembers. Happy Hour
On Friday, June 25, CASE hosted a virtual Happy Hour to kickoff the start of summer. Attendees had fun playing a summer edition of “Never Have I Ever” and the winner received a prize! The next CASE Happy Hour will be a kickoff for our Virtual California Science Education Experience!

CASE Awards
On July 30, CASE closed 2021 Award nominations. Members were able to nominate other members for one of our five awards: Future Science Teacher Award, Jessica Sawko Teacher Leadership Award, Margaret Nicholson Distinguished Service Award, Administrative Leadership Award and Distinguished Contribution Award. Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate an individual or write a letter of recommendation.

Board of Directors Intros
Throughout the entire month of July, we introduced our 2021-2022 Board of Directors on our social media pages. Each board member shared a little bit about themselves so our CASE members could get to know them a little more personally. We’d like to thank our awesome board for contributing, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for the next year.
